Former White House councilor Kelian Conway has reportedly criticized former President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner in his new book, calling him “insightful and calculating” and saying he has an uncontrollable sense of power.
In his book, Here’s the Deal, Conway calls Kushner “a man with understanding nods, questioning, and side-by-side inquiries,” and says he knows that no matter how catastrophic a change in staff or legislative experience may be, he is unlikely. to be held accountable for it, “according to The Washington Post.
The former Trump campaign manager also said Kushner had suggested things like Trump go to “Ellis Island, where he will stand at the foot of Freedom State to lead a naturalization ceremony.”
During his time as presidential adviser, Kushner took on political challenges, including negotiating peace in the Middle East, resolving the opioid crisis and opposing the emerging COVID-19 pandemic.
“There was no subject he looked at outside of his experience,” Conway wrote, saying that if the Martians attacked, he would be happy to add them to his constantly prominent portfolio.
“He misread the Constitution in one important respect, thinking that all the power not given to the federal government is reserved for him,” Conway added.
Conway’s husband, George Conway, is a fierce critic of Trump, a dynamic often noted during the former president’s rule.
Conway writes that at one point, Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, left her a note with recommendations for a marriage counselor, none of which the couple saw, according to the Post.
The book also claims that Trump questioned his candidacy for president after the release of his film in Access Hollywood, which showed the former president bragging to host Billy Bush about touching and kissing women without their consent.
“Should I go out? [of the race]? ” Trump reportedly asked Conway, according to The Daily Beast, also quoting her new book.
“Actually, you can’t,” Conway wrote in response, “unless you want to give up and throw the whole damn thing at Hillary.”
