The next chapter of the Manning family’s football legacy will take place in Texas. Blue-chip quarterback Arch Manning officially announced his commitment to the University of Texas on Thursday via social media.

Arch is the son of Ole Miss Cooper Manning’s former successor, the nephew of two quarterbacks who won the Super Bowl at Peyton and Ellie, and the grandson of former New Orleans Saints Archie caller. He chose Longhorns over such notable schools as Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Clemson and Virginia. At Isidore Newman High School in New Orleans, Manning threw 5,731 yards and 72 touchdowns in his first three seasons. He is number 1 on ESPN in class 2023, which is entering its final year.

Manning’s commitment to Texas spread quickly on the Internet. Longtime Longhorns fan and Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey took to Twitter to express his excitement with his team, which received number 1 in the nation.

McConaughey was not the only Longhorns supporter to make the news. Former Texas quarterback and Rose Bowl MVP Vince Young is also celebrating Manning’s decision on social media. Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant, who played for the Longhorns basketball team in 2006, also called Manning with a motivational tweet.
