The owner of Pat Rogers Towing confirmed that everyone is safe and sound following a fire at his wrecking yard Monday afternoon.

Kingston Fire and Rescue was called to the yard at 2753 Creekford Rd. around 2:30 p.m., and Kingston Police joined them a few minutes later. Police urged motorists and pedestrians to avoid the area.

Tony Rogers said officials are in the process of removing and dismantling vehicles in a 40-by-60-foot building.

“It was certainly accidental, but I don’t have all the details of how it started,” Rogers told the Whig-Standard by phone.

Rogers said the building is concrete block but has wooden roof trusses.
