Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park was forced to close early Saturday night, citing the “unruly behavior” of some guests.

“On Saturday evening, the decision was made to close the park 3 hours early due to unruly behavior and altercations involving a number of teenagers,” the park said in a statement. “This behavior was inconsistent with our park’s values and was not the experience we want every guest to have while visiting Knott’s Berry Farm.”

Buena Park police said they responded to “multiple fights in the park” yesterday. “Shots fired reported with multiple calls to 911,” the department posted on Facebook. “Officers were on scene at the time of the calls and determined there was no shooting.”

Knott’s Berry Farm is California’s oldest theme park and only a 10-minute drive from Disneyland. It was supposed to stay open until 11pm on Saturday.

Video from the park showed chaotic scenes outside the gates as people were told to evacuate. Witnesses who spoke to the media said there were rumors of a shooting in the park, prompting some to flee. Others reported seeing security guards trying to break up large fights among teenage visitors.

Knott’s Berry Farm will be open as usual on Sunday.
