LAFD ground crews and falling planes fight bushes in Hollywood Hills

LOS ANGELES (KABC) – More than 100 firefighters prevented a fire in the Hollywood Hills from spreading to homes after a fierce shooting Monday night.

The fire quickly burned at least one acre as it ignited from medium to heavy bushes, officials said.

The first report of the Coyote fire was around 9:30 pm in block 3600 on N Barham Boulevard, above a dog park near the Ava Apartment complex.

At least four helicopters dropping water helped fight the fire from the air. Los Angeles County Fire Department also joined in the shootout as part of mutual aid.

At one point, the fire began to burn in the Coyote Canyon and away from any structures, according to LAFD.

No evacuation orders have been issued and no homes have been damaged. No casualties were reported.

The crews will stay in the area overnight to extinguish all hotspots.

The cause of the fire is being clarified.
