NEW YORK – Lev Parnassus, a former associate of Rudy Giuliani, was sentenced to 20 months in prison on Wednesday for cheating investors in a fictitious company and illegally making donations to American political candidates on behalf of a Russian businessman.
Parnassus was convicted in a campaign finance charge trial last year and pleaded guilty separately to stealing investment funds aimed at a non-existent business entity called Fraud Guarantee.
He personally collected $ 2 million.
Parnassus was linked to Giuliani while working on behalf of President Donald Trump to seek incriminating information about Joe Biden and his son Hunter in Ukraine before the 2020 election.
Although federal prosecutors in New York are also investigating Giuliani for his deals in Ukraine during that time, he has not been charged.
Parnassus and another man, Igor Fruman, were discussed at the first impeachment trial against Trump, which focused on the then-president’s alleged campaign to put pressure on Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to announce an investigation into Biden.
The Republican majority in the Senate acquitted Trump of wrongdoing.
