Lewis Hamilton said he had no intention of removing his piercing
Lewis Hamilton is unlikely to be punished for continuing to wear the Monaco Grand Prix this weekend, Sky Sports News has learned.
The FIA told Hamilton at the Miami Grand Prix earlier this month that there were two races to remove his jewelry, which the Briton said he had no intention of doing.
This grace period expired after the Spanish Grand Prix last week, but further talks are planned.
Constructive discussions on the issue of jewelry were undertaken by the FIA, individual pilots and the Grand Prix Pilots Association (GPDA).
GPDA Chairman Alex Wurtz said earlier this month that Formula One had the right to ban cockpit jewelery, saying it was in the best interests of pilots, but believed the FIA could have imposed the rule on more a bit confrontational way.
“It’s a rule for the right reasons,” said Wurz, a former Benetton, McLaren and Williams driver.

“I would probably like a slightly different approach to conveying the message.
“I don’t want to be in football where there are more hands in the air and verbal insults … you have to work together. That’s a style I’d prefer in this case.”
The ban on jewelry, as well as the wearing of inappropriate underwear, has long been in the rules, but is rarely enforced until the FIA limits this season.
FIA President Mohamed bin Sulayem said he was taking steps to ensure that Formula One drivers were seen as “good role models” for younger drivers making their way up.

Hamilton revealed the challenges and demands of the iconic GP of Monaco, admitting that he was too tired to celebrate even his last victory in the “most draining” race in Formula 1, which he describes as a “lottery”.
In a special Sky Sports F1, reflecting Hamilton’s memories of Monaco – which is part of our coverage this weekend – the seven-time world champion also spoke of his desire to add to his three significant victories.
The exciting Formula One season of 2022 is heading to Monte Carlo for the seventh lap, with Hamilton being one of 20 drivers preparing for the top test in the narrowest street circles as barriers rise with each dangerous turn.
“This is unique and probably one of the busiest weekends,” Hamilton admitted in the exclusive edition of Sky Sports F1. “The desire and the will to win are growing.”

Hamilton, who is only sixth in the weekend for the Mercedes Championship, added that after beating Max Verstappen to victory in 2019, he was too exhausted to enjoy even the day.
“Mentally and psychologically, this is probably the most exhausting [race]”He explained.” Because it’s so narrow, so fast, so short between the corners.
“The other street chains … Baku is a little wider. This track is literally a barrier, a barrier, a barrier. It’s less physical, you’re just mentally completely crowded after that!”
The whole weekend at the GP of Monaco is exclusively live on Sky Sports F1, as the action on the track begins with training 1 on Friday at 12.30.
