Little Amal in Liverpool route, photos and where it is now – live updates

Little Amal, the giant puppet of a 10-year-old Syrian refugee, is in Liverpool today as part of World Refugee Week.

The 3.5-meter doll is touring England, visiting remarkable destinations to highlight the plight of refugee children. Last year, Little Amal became an international symbol of human rights after traveling from the Turkish-Syrian border to Manchester “in search of her mother”.

Her New Steps New Friends tour began last Sunday, with Little Amal visiting 10 cities in England, including Birmingham, Cheltenham, Bristol and London. Along the way, she shares her encouraging message: “Don’t forget about us.”

Art director Amir Nazir said: “The whole project stems from the idea that refugees are considered a problem, when in fact they are not, they are potential. Walking with Amal through cities and communities, creating a great spectacle of art and creating great moments in which the community can come together and think about itself and how it accepts others, proves that refugees should not be seen as burden. Awareness of the plight of refugees is always crucial. ”

Today we are live in Liverpool, as Little Amal is a guest of honor in the city, arriving at 12 o’clock. She will be walking around the city until 2 pm and you can follow all the updates here in our live broadcast.
