Live M5 motorway traffic: ‘Two hours late’ as holidaymakers flock southwest

The M5 is heavily congested under the pressure of festive traffic descending to the southwest.

There are long delays south between Wotton-under-Edge, in South Gloucestershire, and Clevedon, Somerset, but most of the road is facing delays.

The M5 is often congested during peak hours at this time of year, with people across the country choosing to spend their sunny weekends in beauty spots in Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset.

Inrix, a traffic monitoring organization, said: “Severe delays and queuing due to festive M5 Southbound traffic between J14 B4509 (Thornbury / Falfield) and J23 A39 (Bridgwater North). Travel time is 1 hour and 50 minutes.
