A huge fire broke out in an industrial area in Blaenavon. Police have warned people to avoid the area around Gilchrist Thomas Industrial Estate as emergency services are dealing with the blaze.
At its peak, 100 firefighters are battling the blaze, and locals are also urged to keep their doors and windows closed due to smoke.
The fire caused some power outages in the area and electricity and gas engineers were called in to help the local emergency services.
Guent police released a statement shortly after midnight on Thursday (June 9th), saying officers were helping firefighters deal with the emergency, which reportedly began around 10:45 p.m.
The industrial property, which is close to the Big Pit, has a wide range of commercial properties and industrial units.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that the fire engulfed the caravan repair center at the mansion. The reason is currently unknown.
Guent police said in a tweet: “Officers are dealing with a large fire at Gilchrist Thomas Industrial Estate, Blaenavon. Please avoid the area. “
