Police are currently attending Queen Square and Williamson Square after reports of stabbing.
Officials cordoned off several roads in the area as they dealt with the incident.
The incident continues and the investigation is at an early stage.
There are reports that two people were stabbed, but this has not been confirmed by police.
The Force’s incident manager told ECHO: “We are aware of an ongoing incident outside of Williamson Square and patrols are present at the stab signal.
“It’s quite fresh in the early stages of the investigation, so we still can’t confirm much, but there are patrols present at the incident.
“We have notified two people who may have been stabbed.”
The injuries and the current condition of the victims are not known yet.
