Shortly after adding his signature to the contract, he told Liverpoolfc.com: “Obviously it’s a special moment for me and my family. Another one you dreamed of as a kid and don’t take for granted.
“This is an amazing place; in my eyes probably one of the best – if not the best – clubs in the world right now. Being able to extend my stay here was a really easy decision.
“Obviously I’ve been here a long time, but in the grand scheme of things I still feel young and, as you say, my best years are ahead of me. I have more to learn and time to do so.
“I think I have the platform here to do that with the manager and the coaching staff around me and my teammates to make sure the best years are ahead.”
Injuries have prevented Gomez from increasing his Liverpool appearances so far; however, he has established himself as an integral part of Jurgen Klopp’s side, operating as a centre-back or right-back.
Last term, the 25-year-old appeared 21 times in all competitions to help Liverpool’s pressure in all four competitions, remaining fully fit for the entire campaign.
