ondon’s latest covid hospots have been revealed as new figures also show around one in 25 people in england had covid last week.
Around 2.7 million people in the UK are thought to have had Covid last week, up 18% from 2.3 million the previous week, according to new figures from the Office for National Statistics.
That’s the highest mark since late April, but still below the record of 4.9 million at the end of March.
New figures also reveal for the week ending July 1 there were eighteen Covid hotspot areas in London with a weekly case rate of more than 400 per 100,000.
The highest case rates in the capital this week were found in East Putney, where the case rate was 510 per 100,000, according to ONS figures.

Hayes North in Bromley followed closely behind as it had a case rate of 482.7.
Brondesbury Park in Brent had a rate of 472.6, the Woodcote area in Croydon had a rate of 461.6 and the Pinner South area in Harrow had a rate of 459.4.

Several areas in east London had notably lower case rates, with the lowest case rates found in the east and north-east of the capital for the week.
Loxford Park, in Redbridge, has a case rate of just 38.2 per 100,000, Shadwell North in Tower Hamlets just 38.7 per 100,000 and Ilford North in Redbridge has a rate of 43.2 per 100,000.
The data is divided into smaller areas called Middle Layer Super Source Areas (MSOAs), and their names may not exactly match those commonly used when describing our own neighborhoods.
The case rate is calculated by dividing the seven-day total by the area’s population and multiplying by 100,000 to facilitate comparison between areas.
London as a whole had 20,058 cases of Covid in the past week, according to the latest figures, and a case rate of 222.8 per 100,000.
Meanwhile, the latest figures also showed that the number of people in hospital in England who tested positive for Covid-19 stood at 11,878 on July 7, a 33% rise on the week.
Those with severe enough Covid symptoms to need mechanically ventilated beds were 232 on July 7, up 10% in a week and the highest number in two months.
However, it still remains far below previous peaks of the pandemic, thanks to the success of the vaccine’s rollout.
