President Biden has lost one of his most loyal aides as a growing number of Democrats question his ability to turn around his troubled administration and stop a free fall in his approval ratings.
Kate Bedingfield resigned as White House communications director on Wednesday, ending a seven-year relationship with Biden, 79. She joined him when he was vice president and held a similar role during his 2020 White House campaign.
It is the second high-profile departure from the president’s media team in as many months. Jen Psaki stepped down as press secretary in May.
