Mall of America on lockdown, police respond to ‘active incident’

Law enforcement is responding to the Mall of America for reports of shots fired.

Bloomington Police confirmed to 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS around 4:30 p.m. that multiple units were at the mall working on an “active incident” on the northwest side.

We are currently working on an active incident at the Mall of America on the northwest side. There are multiple employees on site. We will update when we have more information.

The mall confirmed it was on lockdown, saying there was an “isolated incident in a tenant space.”

No other information from the police or the mall.

Video from inside the mall appears to show a situation at the Nike store, with three loud bangs heard in the video.

Another video from inside showed a crowd taking shelter in the mall’s basement.

Video taken outside the mall shows people running from the building.

Due to the activity, Metro Transit has announced that it will not allow passengers to enter the mall until further notice.
