Man arrested after hit-and-run that killed 25-year-old woman in suburban Quebec

Police have arrested a 32-year-old suspect in connection with a June fatal hit-and-run in Brossard, Que.

Jose Luis Raymond appeared in court Friday afternoon. He was charged with failing to stop after a fatal accident and dangerous driving causing death, according to a news release from Longueuil police.

The incident happened around 04:20 on June 24 at the intersection of “Rim” Blvd. and Lautrec St.

A driver of a black pickup truck hit a woman crossing the street, then drove off towards Tasheryu Blvd.

The 25-year-old woman died on the spot.

Police believe the offender was driving a black Chevrolet Silverado manufactured sometime between 2019 and 2021.

Police said in a news release Friday that they located the suspect vehicle in the Greenfield Park area of ​​Longueuil. The police seized the truck for forensic examinations.

Raymond will remain in custody until his next court appearance on Monday, July 11.
