A neighbor from Mount Heritage told Tri-City News that someone came out in handcuffs after police raided the residence today (June 3rd).
A man was arrested today (June 3rd) at the home of Trina Hunt, a Port Moody woman whose remains were discovered in March 2021 after she disappeared earlier that year.
Neighbor Mark Tonello told Tri-City News that a man had left his Heritage Mountain home in handcuffs around 4pm this afternoon after police raided the residence.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has since confirmed that an arrest has been made at her home in Port Moody in connection with her case. The speaker is a sergeant. David Lee says the suspect cooperated.
Lee explained to Tri-City News that officers rushed to the home, talked to the man inside and detained him.
He said the suspect could not be named at this time, as the investigation is still ongoing and no charges have been filed.
Lee also explained that investigators were able to obtain “sufficient information” that led to the arrest, and the process involved efforts by the Port Moody Police Department (PMPD).

Tonello said police involved in today’s arrest appeared to be plainclothes officers.
“And then a few minutes later, about four cars at the Port Moody Police Department appeared with their lights on,” he explained.
“A few minutes later, a man in handcuffs came out of their house [..] as far as I can see, they put it in the back of the vehicle that had been there for a while. “
Tonello said several police vehicles remained at the scene after the suspect was taken away.

Hunt was confirmed dead on June 1, 2021, less than three months after the remains were found at Silver Creek near Hope, British Columbia.
The then 48-year-old, who would turn 50 on Monday (June 6th), was first reported missing at the PMPD on January 18, 2021. At that time, she was reportedly last seen at her home that morning.
Following public pleas for unfair play, the community conducted several searches of local forests, hoping to find Hunt or something that could help officials in their investigation.
According to the #JusticeForTrina Facebook page, a video explains that more than 500 volunteers spent 1,200 hours searching and covering 2,000 km of land – equal to the distance from Port Moody to Los Angeles and climbing Mount Everest six times.
It was finally determined on May 1, 2021, that the remains found near Hope on March 29, 2021, belonged to Hunt.
On June 1, her family announced $ 50,000 for anyone who gave advice that led to arrests and potential charges, and Hunts told the person in charge to “accept” their actions.
Today’s arrest is also a year after IHIT carried out search warrants at two homes on June 6, 2021 – including the residence of Hunts Heritage Mountain and one in Mission, where a vehicle was taken for evidence.
The tape was around Port Moody’s house, and several officers were spotted entering and exiting at the time.
Following this development, no other information was officially disclosed to the public.
Two months later, in August 2021, the Hunt family held an intimate celebration of life among friends and peers.
“We were so happy to receive such support from family and friends,” Diana Ibot, Hunt’s mother, told the gathering. “We will always have these memories, her brilliance and her laughter.”
A table of honor with photos, #JusticeForTrina stickers and lighted candles was arranged in her honor.
