Manchester United have agreed a £15m deal with Juventus for the transfer of Adrien Rabiot, according to reports.

Rabiot, who has fallen out of favor at Juventus and has just one year left on his contract, will join United if the parties involved agree personal terms, a report in The Sun claims.

With just one year remaining on his current contract with Juventus, the France international is available on a cut-price deal and is said to be keen on a move away from Turin.

Manchester United have reportedly agreed a £15m fee for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot

Juventus signed Rabiot on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in 2019, with the midfielder deciding, along with his mother Veronique, that his prospects were in better hands away from the French capital.

The Frenchman struggled to fulfill the early promise of his Juventus career and his spell in Turin coincided with the club relinquishing the Serie A title.

United, if they sign the player, will get a talented midfielder, but one who has a reputation in the game for being a tough client in the dressing room.

This is partly due to the reputation that was given to his mother, who clashed with figures in the game during her son’s career.

The club now face a battle to land the player, having to negotiate with the player’s stubborn mother

Véronique is representing Rabiot and is said to have clashed with the star’s team-mates and sporting directors, as well as demanding to meet managers and attend training sessions to ensure her son is treated and cared for the right way.

She previously asked to go on a pre-season tour when her son signed his first professional form at PSG, while she was partly responsible for his relegation to the reserves at the same club over wage demands.

She would claim about this incident that her son was being held “hostage” by the club and that meant he would soon be in “prison” fed only “bread and water”.

Eric ten Hag saw his tenure as United boss get off to the worst possible start on Sunday afternoon at home to Brighton

A move to Spain in 2018 didn’t happen due to wage demands.

United’s critics said Rabiot’s move amounted to panic at the club as the transfer window entered its final phase.

The club lost their first game of the 2022-23 campaign, with Erik ten Hag first in charge, at home to Brighton. Many fans have called for a reshuffle of United’s midfield, with the club chasing Frenkie de Jong all summer at the expense of other targets.

Rabiot is not seen as an alternative to De Jong, with the club still hoping they can sign the Dutchman.
