Homicide detectives have identified the man who was killed in Maple Ridge on Thursday as 41-year-old Arthur Aaron Joseph Como.

At around 2pm, Ridge Meadows’ RCMP received numerous reports of gunfire in block 12300 on Carlton Street, according to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

A man was found with gunshot wounds. Ambulance crews tried to save his life, but he died.

IHIT says Como was known to police but was too early in the investigation to know if the killing was linked to the ongoing gang conflict in the Lower Continent.

“We want to talk to Mr. Como’s friends and associates in an attempt to schedule his activities for the days before his death,” said a spokesman for IHIT Corp. Sukhi Dhesi on Saturday.

Investigators are looking for witnesses, video surveillance and recording from the billboard in the area of ​​Carlton Street and 124 Avenue and 216 Street and Dewdney Trunk Road on Thursday between 13:30 and 14:30

IHIT continues to investigate with the assistance of the Ridge Meadow RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Service and the BC Judicial Investigation Service.
