Four men were arrested after two burglaries in Merseyside yesterday, in which a man was sprayed with an unknown substance and a woman was attacked.
At around 11.40am on Saturday, June 4, on Burbo Bank Road in Blundellsands, it was reported that a group of men, all wearing face masks, had entered a house. They stole a large amount of jewelry and sprayed the victim with an unknown substance before fleeing.
Shortly after about 12:50 p.m., officers received a second burglary report at the Hillcrest Lodge on Cuckoo Lane in Gateacre, where a man knocked on the property door and forcibly entered the address, followed by three other men. A woman was then attacked at the property and a large amount of jewelry was taken before fleeing the area.

Officers were present at the address and noticed a blue Audi S4 in the area, which was abandoned after a police chase in the village of Hale. After a thorough search of the area, officers later arrested four men aged 25, 34, 27 and 24 from Liverpool and Cardiff and took them to the Merseyside police station, where they remain in custody.
Detectives are currently searching for a fifth suspect and are calling for more information on both thefts.
Detective Inspector Phil Ryan said: “It was obviously a horrific incident for the occupants of both homes. Fortunately, they were not seriously injured, but they were apparently left visibly disturbed by their ordeal.
“Although we have made four arrests, we are still looking for a fifth suspect and are appealing to anyone in Blondlands and Gatecker who may have seen this group of men yesterday afternoon or seen or heard something suspicious to contact us. I especially urge all taxi drivers or delivery drivers to check their control camera to see if they have photographed the blue Audi or something significant.
“Any information you have can be vital to help us find those involved in the thefts and bring them to justice. Burglary can have a profound effect on victims, and the arrests we have made show that when we receive reports of theft from affected communities, we will take action.
