Maurice “Mama” Boucher, former Hells Angels boss, dies in prison of cancer

Former Hells Angels crime boss Maurice Boucher, aka “Mama” Boucher, has died aged 69.

According to TVA Nouvelles, Boucher, a notorious longtime leader of the Hells Angels gang and one of the most notorious criminals in Quebec history, died Sunday after a long battle with throat cancer.

He died in the palliative care unit of a correctional health facility attached to Archambault Prison in Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines, Que., where he was serving consecutive life sentences.

Boucher was a notorious organized crime boss, murderer, drug trafficker, biker outlaw and former leader of the Quebec branch of the Hells Angels.

In 2002, he was convicted of attempted murder and two counts of first-degree murder after ordering the killing of two Quebec prison officials who were randomly selected in an attempt to destabilize Quebec’s judicial system.

He received a life sentence without the possibility of parole for at least 25 years. He was incarcerated in one of Canada’s few super-maximum prisons.

He battled cancer for seven years and was moved into palliative care on June 10. He just recently turned 69 on June 21st.
