Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas insisted on Wednesday that he did not know that the man his department used to head his Orue “Disinformation Management Council” once called Hunter Biden’s laptop Russian disinformation.
Mayorkas, who testified before the Senate Committee on Appropriations, was annoyed by the hiring of Nina Jankovic as the “king of disinformation” of the DHS and the board she will lead, dubbed the “truth ministry” by critics.
Senator John F. Kennedy (R-La.) Pressured Mallorca to hire Jankovic and whether the secretary knew about her comments about the laptop, which became the basis for a series of revelations by a blockbuster from The Post in October 2020.
“When the department picked her, did she know she said Mr. Hunter Biden’s laptop was Russian misinformation?” Kennedy asked.
“I was not aware of that, but we are not discussing the internal hiring process. Ultimately, as secretary, I am responsible for the decisions of the Ministry of Internal Security, “Mallorca replied.

Kennedy then asked if Mallorca knew Jankovic was guaranteeing the veracity of Steele’s file, which has since been discredited.
“Senator, allow me to repeat and add one more fact. First, we do not discuss internal hiring processes. Secondly, I didn’t know that fact, “Majorcas tried to explain.
“Three, as Minister of the Interior, I am responsible for the department’s decisions, and I understand that Ms. Jankovic is an expert on the subject in which she will work on behalf of the department,” he continued.

Mallorca also claims she was unaware of Jankovic’s chilling videos on TikTok, in which she sang a performance of Mary Poppins’ tune “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” for fake news.

Continuing his line of questioning for the board, Kennedy cited the example of former President Bill Clinton, who denied having sex with White House intern Monica Lewinsky and asked Majorca if this was something Jankovic’s board would investigate.
“Senator, let me make it clear that it is the responsibility of the department to deal with misinformation that threatens the security of the homeland. And the important thing is that the working group was set up, because this disinformation work has been going on for almost 10 years, “Mayorkas replied.
“The working group was set up precisely to protect against the violation of the rights of individuals in the First Amendment, precisely to protect their right to confidentiality,” he said.
After his round of interrogations ended, Kennedy offered Mallorca a job when he returned to DHS, saying he had to face the man who recommended hiring Jankovic and “I would fire him on the spot.”
