Montreal police responded to 3 stab wounds, 1 shooting

A 40-year-old man is fighting for his life, and a 14-year-old boy received stab wounds in a number of unrelated stab wounds that engulfed Montreal police on a remarkably violent Tuesday.

In all, police were called to three separate knife-piercing calls – as well as one shooting – in nearly four hours.

The first stabbing was reported to police at 4:30 p.m.

Veronica Comtois, a spokesman for the Montreal police, said a 14-year-old boy was stabbed in the upper body with a sharp object during the brawl and was sent to hospital. The boy’s injuries are not considered life-threatening.

No detainees have been detained and the investigation is ongoing.

About 15 minutes later, officers were called for another stabbing signal, this time in the Park Extension neighborhood, where police reported a man with a machete. Police say the suspect entered a cafe on West Boulevard Jean-Talon, near Wiseman Avenue, and stabbed a man inside.

The victim, a 42-year-old man, was rushed to hospital. His injuries are also not considered life-threatening.

A 29-year-old suspect was arrested shortly after the incident and is due to meet with investigators.

The investigation continues.

A MAN IN CRITICAL CONDITION

A third stabbing, reported to police around 8 pm, took place on Saint-Marc Street and Maisonneuve West Boulevard. In this case, there was a fight nearby, which led to the stabbing of a 42-year-old man. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

No detainees have been detained, but the investigation is ongoing.

Officers were busy as another serious call was received at 5:30 p.m.

Police found bullet holes in a vehicle and in the window of the Bambino Village kindergarten on André Ampere Boulevard.

There are no reports of casualties from the shooting, which is still under investigation.
