The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team and the Richmond RCMP are investigating a shooting during the day that killed two people on Saturday.

Shots were fired at the 7000 block on Ackroyd Road in what appears to be targeted shooting.
Clayton Burns was startled by a wave of police and ambulances flooding the street as he dined at a nearby White Spot on Saturday.
“Emergency doctors pulled someone out of the apartment building on a stretcher,” said the 74-year-old Richmond resident.
“It looked like it might have been a dead body.
Richmond police said the scene was “under control and well controlled. At the moment there is no immediate danger for the population in the area. An update on the situation will be provided soon, “a press release said.

Ackroyd Road between No. 3 Rd. and Minoru Boulevard will be closed “for the foreseeable future,” police said.

The Richmond RCMP said police were called at 11:03 a.m. Saturday. They believe the shooting was not “accidental”.
“In the presence, officers from the Richmond RCMP front line found two dead victims. Both received gunshot wounds, “police said in a statement. “Based on the theory of the investigation in this initial phase, this does not seem to be an accidental act.
“Currently, the police are in the phase of gathering evidence, no additional information will be provided for now. Additional details and media availability will be handled by the IHIT Media Liaison Officer.
