The last episode of Ms. Marvel launched on Disney+ yesterday and lined up Kamala Khan’s (Iman Vellani) next appearance on The Marvels. Fans are excited to see what’s next for Kamala as well as Velani, who has won hearts by being an extremely decent fan of the franchise. Velani is outspoken about the MCU and has a history of reading comics. In the past, she has expressed her love for Iron Man and Robert Downey Jr. In fact, she recently revealed that she can “recite the first five minutes of Iron Man with stage directions.” However, Velani is not quite ready to meet her hero. The actor recently participated in a Reddit AMA and was asked when he would meet Downey Jr.
“I think about it literally every day…I don’t want to date him right now. I’ve been much better at not putting celebrities on a pedestal and humanizing them, but I’m not ready to do that with RDJ just yet Velani shared.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige recently praised Vellani’s commitment to a wider Marvel lore, revealing that she carried a notebook with her full of ideas and comments
“Like Tom Holland and Peter Parker, Iman is a much bigger Marvel fan than we realized,” Feige told Empire Magazine. “[On set] she carries this Unabomber notebook with her everywhere, with her scribbles and ideas. And why wouldn’t we want to hear them? Not only because she plays the lead role, she would comment on the show online. So, better comment before the show is ready and try to incorporate some of these ideas.”
In addition to Vellani, Ms. Marvel stars Aramis Knight, Saagar Sheikh, Rish Shah, Matt Linz, Zenobia Shroff and Mohan Kapoor. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah directed the first and sixth episodes of the show, which were written by a room led by Bisha K. Ali. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy directed three other episodes while Meera Menon directed one.
“The fact that the show is being made and they’re bringing this character into the MCU [what’s important],” Velani explained during a previous interview. “I really don’t have to go out of my way to talk about being Muslim and Pakistani – it all comes out on the show. I think having people like me involved in such a big project is inspiring enough.”
Ms. Marvel is now streaming on Disney+.
