Multiple Police Officers Shot In Deadly Situation In East Keith; suspect in custody

FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) – Law enforcement officials remained on the scene Friday morning of a fatal shooting in Allen that involved multiple victims from multiple agencies, Floyd County Sheriff John Hunt said.

He said several employees were taken to different hospitals. The Floyd County Sheriff’s Department posted on social media early Friday morning that the incident was fatal. There is no information on the number of dead.

Sheriff Hunt said deputies were trying to serve a court-issued warrant when the incident began Thursday night. As of 9:30 p.m., he said the suspect was still barricaded. In a briefing during our 11:00 p.m. newscast, Kentucky State Police said the suspect was in custody.

The sheriff said the suspect opened fire when officers responded. KSP said the incident started around 6 p.m

This area of ​​Allen, located near the intersection of US 23 and State Route 1428, is closed for miles around. Earlier Thursday night, the sheriff said he hoped for a peaceful resolution to the situation.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear tweeted the following statement late Thursday:

Tonight I am asking the community of nations to join Great Britain and me in prayer for Floyd County, especially the family and loved ones of those who responded to a barricade situation involving a shooting. ^AB

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office posted on its Facebook page that thoughts and prayers go out to KSP, all Floyd County law enforcement, first responders, dispatchers and the Allen community.

The Louisville Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) tweeted the following:

Police officers from across the region, some as far away as Ashland, responded to the scene.
