A murder suspect has been arrested in Suffolk in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man in front of a curry house in Oldham. A 31-year-old man from Rochdale was questioned by detectives in connection with the murder committed on Union Street in the early hours of Saturday.
The victim, a man about 40 years old from Oldham, was stabbed several times, receiving a fatal chest wound after going out at night. Police say it is believed to have been a quarrel near the Light of Bengal restaurant.
The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries, but was pronounced dead on arrival. The suspect, who was detained in Ipswich during the night, is expected to arrive at the Manchester police station for questioning soon. Police say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the attack at this stage.

A 30-year-old man arrested on Saturday on suspicion of murder has been “eliminated from the investigation”. A cordon remains on Union Street while evidence from the scene is still being gathered.
Detectives say they “still want to hear from anyone who may have been in downtown Oldham late Friday night and early Saturday morning.”
