Rep. Nancy Mays, RS.C., joined “Fox & Friends First” Monday to respond to Vice President Kamala Harris, who attacked Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, calling him a “so-called leader” who focuses on political attacks instead of solutions to the border crisis.
Mays said Harris was attacking leaders like Abbott for having real solutions.
“I think every American, whether you’re on the southern border or not, would like an answer from Kamala Harris as to why she doesn’t have a solution on the border.”
DHS EXPECTS AN AVERAGE 441 unaccompanied children per day at the border this year, a new record
Texas Rep. Jody Arrington supports the actions of officials in his state to take matters related to the migrant crisis into their own hands, claiming that President Biden has “handed over control” of the border and describing the situation as an invasion.
“They’re doing absolutely the right thing, and I applaud the governor for following suit,” the Republican congressman told Fox News Digital in an interview this week.
Arrington spoke after a wave of action in Texas over the border. On Tuesday, multiple counties announced crisis on the southern border “invasion” and called on Gov. Greg Abbott to do the same, arguing it would give the state more power to send illegal immigrants to Mexico.
Abbott has signed an executive order Thursday, which allows the Texas National Guard and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) to detain and return illegal immigrants who have crossed between ports of entry to the southern border. According to the order, illegal aliens will be taken to the US, but not to Mexico.
Mays said the border crisis should be a “bipartisan concern” and despite illegal crossings and fentanyl being encountered, the Biden administration has done nothing. She also said that the border crisis is one of the main issues that will lead to Republican victories in the midterm elections.
“You’re going to see a huge red wave in November. That’s why it’s important to support Republicans who have solutions, Republicans like Governor Greg Abbott and others along the border and others in Congress who have solutions to this looming crisis that is getting worse and worse by the day. ”
