Heavy floods that displaced thousands in southern Manitoba have reached the world level.
Satellite images of floods in the Red River Valley are called NASA Earth Observatory images for the day.
The two fake-colored images, taken Wednesday and Tuesday, show the flooded valley on both sides of the Canadian-US border.
The images were taken with sensors used to track earth and climate measurements, which are currently on two of NASA’s satellites.
Heavy snow and spring rainstorms left many parts of Manitoba flooded, including the Red River Valley.
A new low-pressure weather system is expected to bring in 20 to 40 millimeters of rain tonight.
Environment and Climate Change Canada says heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected in the Winnipeg area and in the western part of the province near Brandon.
About 2,500 people have fled their homes.
