Gary Neville does not understand the “vanity” around the Englishman Jesse Lingard, as he and Manchester United must “move forward”.
Lingard has barely played for Man United this season. He has only started a few times in the Premier League.
The midfielder expires in June and he will leave United. He expected to leave in January, but the club’s hierarchy prevented that from happening.

Lingard was an unused substitute, so he was not sent to the United hosts’ fans. His brother, Louis Scott, said after the game against Brentford that Manchester United were “classless”:

Speaking on Friday afternoon, United’s interim chief Ralph Rangnik suggested he was not paying “too much attention” to speaking on social media:
“Honestly, I don’t read much, I haven’t had time to read in the last six months, I’m not on Instagram, I’m not on Facebook, I’m not involved in these areas.
“My focus was to develop the team. In those days with social media, there is always someone who posts something and it is important that you do not pay attention to it. Unless it’s the player himself, then it could be a different story. “
Neville offered his thoughts on the situation (via Twitter) on Friday night:
“I don’t understand the noise from Lingard at all. “I’ve seen much better players than him not get a perfect send,” said Neville.
“He wants to leave, he wants a free transfer. He has it. Keep going. “
