New York City Mayor Eric Adams on Monday used the 2022 Met Gala to make a political statement, wearing a tuxedo adorned with “Stop Gun Violence.”
Adams, 61, was photographed next to his girlfriend Tracy Collins, thumbs up and smiling.

“I’m giving back a little bragging to #MetGala. It’s an honor to be here, “Adams tweeted, along with several photos.
Earlier Monday, the mayor tweeted a photo of a pedicure in preparation for the Meta Gala.
Statistics released last month by the NYPD show gun violence is on the rise. In March, the city reported 115 shooting incidents – more than a 16% increase over March 2021.
META GALA 2022: A GUIDE TO THE BIGGEST FASHION NIGHT
Adams is by no means the first politician to make a political statement. Last year, Republican Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, DN.Y., caused a stir by wearing a white dress with the slogan “tax the rich.”

The choice of wardrobe provoked a mixed response on social media, with some praising Ocasio-Cortez’s message, while others calling it “indecently contactless and completely hypocritical.”
