A newborn baby was found in a basket with an umbilical cord still attached, according to reports.
The young boy was allegedly found in a brown garden waste bin in Grimsby on Sunday.
A nearby resident said they heard crying from Winchester Avenue’s trash can and opened the lid to find the baby among a pile of cut grass.
Emergency services arrived at the scene around 5pm on Sunday and police conducted house-to-house searches.
Both the baby and his mother are now being hospitalized, Grimsby Live reports.
Referring to the mother, a local resident said: “We hope that only she will receive the care she needs and her baby.”
A spokesman for the East Midlands Ambulance Service said they received a call at 4:58 p.m. on June 19 at a private address in Grimsby.
“The caller called for emergency medical care,” the spokesman said. “We sent two ambulances with a crew and two patients were taken to the hospital of Diana, Princess of Wales.
Humberside police said officers went to a property on Winchester Avenue after a June 19 “safety concern” report.
They added that “help has been provided to those affected”.
