Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers already have the rights to brag on the golf course over Patrick Mahoms and Josh Allen after winning The Match on Capital One on Wednesday.
The four NFL quarterbacks played a 12-hole golf show in Wynn Las Vegas, where Rodgers drew a shot on the last hole to give his team a 1-win victory.
While it was fun to watch the quarterback compete on the court, it was also for a good cause, raising enough money to donate 10,258,000 dishes to Feeding America.
Competitors took the event seriously, but also started talking about garbage early. Alan said he would play the round with a golf ball featuring a photo of Brady shirtless taken at the NFL Scout Factory in 2000.
Alan took a few pictures himself. When Brady struck a short blow, he said he was hit by lumps and “Josh Alleny.”
There were a lot of wrong shots in the match, at least one spectator was hit by a ball from Alan.
Alan told commentators that he gave the unfortunate fan a glove as a souvenir.
Brady and Rodgers came out of the swinging gates, making a birdie in the first two holes to come out with 2 at the beginning of the round. Mahomes and Allen eventually returned, fueled by several blows to the Mahomes clutch.
Mahomes had birds with two strokes at number 5 to bring the square to the match and made another stroke at the end of the round to give his team the lead.
The talk of rubbish subsided as the match got narrower and closer to the final hole. The only tweet late in the event came from match commentator Charles Barkley, who shot at all quarterbacks, fellow commentator Trevor Immelman and even from the Shaquille O’Neill Basketball Hall of Fame.
Mohams hit a par-3 to 7 feet, 6 inches from the hole, and match commentator Ernie Johnson said Mohams hit him to the length of O’Neill. Barkley took the opportunity to comment on his NBA partner.
“That’s the only good thing about golf, man, I don’t have to be around this idiot,” Barkley said. “It’s more beautiful when Shaq isn’t here. My life is much better when he’s not around.”
Barkley helped keep things light as quarterbacks spoke less and less as he approached the last hole. The match was completely tied with par-3, when Rodgers hit his shot with a tee on the green and reduced his shot for the victory. It was Brady’s first win 0-2 in Wednesday’s show.
