WIMBLEDON, England — Novak Djokovic’s tumultuous 2022 found its way to an elegant climax on Sunday as he and his otherworldly skills led to the renewal of his long run to the big numbers.
His 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) victory over the erratic Nick Kyrgios took Djokovic to seven Wimbledon men’s singles titles, level with Pete Sampras and William Renshaw and left one lurking behind Roger Federer. He also secured a fourth consecutive Wimbledon title and 21st Grand Slam singles title, within one of Rafael Nadal and one ahead of Federer, with maestro Djokovic once trailing 16-1.
