“Now it’s men”: Celebrities react to Gislane Maxwell’s 20-year sentence

Celebrities, including authors, actors and politicians, have responded to Ghislaine Maxwell’s 20-year sentence on charges of child trafficking for sexual contact.

On December 29, the socialist was found guilty by a federal jury of five charges, including sex trafficking for recruiting and cutting four girls between 1994 and 2004, for having sex with her ex-boyfriend and “crime partner” Jeffrey Epstein.

In sentencing in Manhattan Federal Court on Tuesday (June 28th), Judge Alison Nathan called Maxwell’s behavior “disgusting and predatory” and rejected the claim that she could not afford fines.

Many celebrities celebrated the news on Twitter. However, some argue that 20 years is not a severe enough punishment.

“Now it’s men,” said Monica Lewinsky, referring to the other alleged members of the sex trafficking group.

Pierce Morgan writes: “Who were the rich, powerful and (sometimes) famous clients of Gislane Maxwell? We need to be told. She and Epstein were not the only ones involved in this criminal sexual behavior. We need names. “

“Gislane Maxwell has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for aiding Jeffrey Epstein in sexually abusing teenagers. I hope he rots in hell. I also want names … all other names. Dems or Repubs… … all of them, ”added comedian Dana Goldberg.

“If Gislane Maxwell is guilty of sexually trafficking children, there is a list of her clients who have been involved in this proven trafficking … MAKE THEIR NAMES PUBLIC AND ARREST THEM ALL.

“So Gislane Maxwell gets 20 years. It is a pity that he did not just try to cancel the election. There wouldn’t be time, “joked The Kissing Booth 2 director Jay Arnold.

The chained Maxwell was joined in court by members of her family, as well as several of her victims, who gave statements of influence before the verdict was read.

Maxwell also turned to the court, saying that the meeting with Epstein was “the greatest regret of my life” and told the victims: “I hope that my sentence and severe imprisonment will bring you peace and finality.”

In addition to 20 years in prison, Ghislaine was fined $ 750,000 (£ 615,000). Federal prosecutors demanded a sentence of 30-55 years for Maxwell, while her defense demanded no more than five-quarters.
