Another emergency room closing

Another MIA emergency department is closed this weekend due to staffing issues.
On Sunday, the Interior Department of Health announced that the emergency department at the South Okanagan General Hospital would be closed until 6 p.m. due to “limited physician availability.”
The closest hospital is Penticton Regional Hospital, about 35 minutes north of Oliver Hospital.
The closings come amid staffing problems at several Interior Health emergency departments. Friday, the Interior Department of Health announced that emergency rooms in Ashcroft and Clearwater will also be closed this weekend.
The emergency room at Dr. Helmken Memorial Hospital in Clearwater has been closing intermittently for months.
