On January 6, the commission aired a video of Bill Bar’s testimony behind closed doors

On January 6, the commission aired a closed-door video of former Attorney General Bill Bar’s testimony about the start of the prime-time hearing.

Driving the news: “I told the president it sucked. I didn’t want to be a part of it,” Barr said.

What they say: Commission Vice-Chair Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) Said the testimony would reveal that Trump says former Vice President Mike Pence “deserves to be hanged” on Jan. 6, which the rebels shouted.

  • “Maybe our supporters have the right idea,” Trump said, according to a testimony read by Cheney.

Background: Bar, who resigned in December 2020, said former President Trump’s false allegations about the 2020 presidential election fuel his decision to sever ties with Trump.

  • Bar said in December 2020 that the Ministry of Justice had not uncovered evidence of widespread voter fraud that would change the outcome of the presidential election.
