One person was killed and three were injured in a knife attack in Montreal

A 26-year-old man was arrested after his stepfather and mother were stabbed along with two others on Sunday morning in downtown Montreal.

The man’s 72-year-old stepfather was killed. Another victim is in critical condition in the hospital, and two others are in the hospital in stable condition.

A 911 call at around 6:50 a.m. took emergency services to an apartment on Drummond Street, near Sherbrooke Street, where the suspect stabbed his stepfather and mother before moving to another apartment where he was allegedly stabbed a third person.

“The goalkeeper tried to intervene and was stabbed,” said Montreal Police (SPVM) spokesman Marian Aller Maureen.

Three victims were transported to hospital, and the death of the second father was established on the spot.

This is the 13th murder in Montreal in 2022.

The suspect was detained by police on the spot and was detained pending an interview with investigators.

“A crime scene is currently being set up so that investigators can analyze the scene and understand all the circumstances surrounding the incident,” said Aller Maureen.

The SPVM mobile team was also in place. Several witnesses were questioned by police. The motive for the crime is currently unknown.
