2022 has been an excellent year for OnePlus in India and the company is already looking forward to a successful second half with the launch of the OnePlus 10T scheduled for this week. There have already been multiple OnePlus launches in India this year at various price points, starting at just Rs 19,999 for the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G and going up to Rs 66,999 for the flagship OnePlus 10 Pro. The company has tried to cater to all types of customers in India this year.
Key findings from the MSP Smartphone Consumer Report and user searches on our website seem to indicate that the effort has paid off. OnePlus has outperformed its competitors in the mid to premium smartphone segment.
Data from the MSP Smartphone Consumer Report, which has over 10,000 respondents, shows that OnePlus has the highest ownership share in the Rs 30,000-50,000 price range, with 28.5% of people owning a OnePlus device in this segment. Samsung and Vivo were the next top brands with the largest ownership in this category. Oppo and Xiaomi also managed to enter the top five smartphone brands, according to MSP Smartphone Consumer Report data.
OnePlus 10R: A clear winner for the brand
The OnePlus 10R, the sub-Rs 40,000 smartphone from the house of OnePlus, has turned out to be a dark horse for the brand. Based on MySmartPrice impressions from April to June 2022, the OnePlus 10R was the most popular smartphone in the Rs 30,000-Rs 40,000 category on our website as it recorded the highest impressions for the price segment. On the other hand, Vivo V23 Pro 5G and Realme GT Neo 3 5G were among the other top smartphones with the highest impressions on our website.
When asked about the OnePlus 10R experience, one of the respondents said, “I am using the OnePlus 10R mobile phone. I am extremely happy with this brand. I’m particularly drawn to the loading speed and picture quality. This mobile also offers a good processor. It gives us all the latest features.”
Unsurprisingly, the OnePlus 10R is a popular choice in its price segment, all thanks to its plethora of features such as support for fast charging up to 150W, Dimensity 8100-MAX SoC, 50MP Sony IMX766 primary camera sensor and 120Hz AMOLED display. OnePlus 10R and Realme GT Neo 3 are mostly similar devices that differ in design and user interface. However, the OnePlus 10R beat the Realme GT Neo 3 in our 150W charging test, which you can watch below.
OnePlus dominates the mid-range and premium smartphones in India
Other key findings from our website survey and impressions reveal that OnePlus smartphones feature in the list of top three phones in every price range including Rs 30,000 – Rs 40,000, Rs 40,000 – Rs 50,000 and above Rs 50,000.
While the 10R ruled the Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 segment, the OnePlus 9RT made sure to give a tough fight to its competitors in the Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 price segment. The OnePlus 9RT is the third most popular smartphone in this category, closely followed by the Samsung Galaxy A73 5G and the Realme GT 2 Pro 5G.
As for the flagship segment, the MySmartPrice survey further shows that the OnePlus 10 Pro is the second most popular smartphone in the Rs 50,000 and above category. The Xiaomi 12 Pro was the most popular smartphone choice in our survey, while the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra was the third most popular device in the same category.
After Apple, OnePlus has the highest brand loyalty among users
Apple and OnePlus emerged as the top brands whose customers showed the highest sense of brand loyalty, with retention rates of 80.5% and 61.5% respectively.
Although it is important to note that Apple is mostly in the premium segment and dominates the good time space. OnePlus is a rock star for the Android ecosystem as the company has a presence in the Indian market with smartphones starting at Rs 19,999 and going up to Rs 66,999.
Another user participating in the MySmartPrice survey, when asked about the user experience of a OnePlus device, said, “I’ve used several OnePlus phones and now I’m using the Nord CE 5G. It’s a solid phone and helps me do whatever I want, be it light gaming or daily work. I would recommend this to other users just because of the Snapdragon 750G processor it’s equipped with and makes for a better package than the rest of the handsets out there.”
OnePlus has an excellent user satisfaction rating
OnePlus phones also outperformed the competition in terms of satisfaction with the features available on the device. In our key findings, we measured smartphone brands in various categories – charging speed, display quality, smartphone speed, rear camera, front camera and battery life.
In terms of charging speed and display quality, OnePlus phones scored above 80% in terms of satisfaction level compared to brands like Apple, Poco and Realme. In terms of display quality, OnePlus even surpassed Apple in terms of satisfaction among respondents to the MSP Smartphone Consumer Report.
Even in terms of smartphone speed, MySmartPrice Survey respondents rated OnePlus at 80.70%, behind Apple at 81%, while Poco, Realme and Motorola were among the top five brands.
Additionally, OnePlus was rated over 75% of respondents who said they were satisfied with the rear and front camera quality of OnePlus phones.
The OnePlus 10 Pro, launched earlier this year, came with the Hasselblad camera brand and proved to be an excellent choice for a smartphone camera in our review.
Finally, in terms of battery life, OnePlus was rated as the third best brand behind Infinix and Poco in terms of feature satisfaction. While Vivo and Realme were others among the top five brands, according to the MSP Smartphone Consumer Report.
The second half of the year already looks very competitive with multiple launches planned. OnePlus would like to keep it going throughout the year and the OnePlus 10T might just be the perfect device for the company.
