Ottawa eases more border rules

As of Monday, fully vaccinated passengers arriving in Canada will not be required to provide a quarantine plan if tested positive for COVID-19.

This is one of several border changes.

“The gradual easing of passenger restrictions is part of our balanced and science-based approach to the management of COVID-19 and its variants,” said Transport Minister Omar Algabra. “While some restrictions may make it easier, air and rail travelers are reminded that they still need to wear a mask while traveling.

Unvaccinated children between the ages of five and 11, or those who have not received all of their COVID-19 vaccines, no longer need a negative test to return home.

Preliminary tests are still required for anyone over 12 years of age who is partially or unvaccinated.

Children under the age of five do not need to be tested for COVID-19 because they do not qualify for vaccination.

The federal government is also easing camouflage rules for fully vaccinated passengers.

Those arriving in the country are still required to use the ArriveCAN app within 72 hours of arrival or before boarding a plane or cruise ship destined for Canada.
