“Painful Loss” – The Hollywood Reporter

The death of Jack Knight rocked Hollywood on Friday when news broke of his untimely death at the age of 28.

Originally from Seattle and based in LA, Knight was a regular on the stand-up scene and gathered many admirers, friends and fans during a short but colorful career that included writing and voicing a character in Big Mouth, co-creating and appearing in Peacock’s -released Bust Down opposite close friends like Chris Redd and Sam Jay and opening for stand-up legends like Dave Chappelle.

Below is a roundup of tributes and responses making the rounds on social media.

Rest in peace Jack Knight. Hilarious comedian and great guy. I can not believe.

I am shocked. There was no other like Jack Knight. A unique talent, actually a funny and genuinely kind person, a rare combination. I just can’t believe it at all.

Jack Knight is such a waste. So talented it’s never boring to hang out with him. The comedy world, his friends and family have lost a truly good one.

— Travon Free (@Travon) July 16, 2022

It was all poisonous and hilarious. He was a comics veteran before he turned 21. Rest in power, young icon.

— Solomon Giorgio (@solomongeorgio) July 16, 2022

What the hell. I can not believe. i don’t know what to say jack was a great comedian and person. Absolutely devastating.

Every time I’ve been on a show with Jack Knight, I’ve felt like he could easily be a “21-year-old who’s hot and knows it,” but he always comes across as *so nice* to everyone, regardless of level, and also damn funny. Thinking of his friends and the comedy community today.

I don’t know what to say about Jack Knight that he wouldn’t make fun of. But you were so incredibly loved and respected. There will never be anyone like you 💔

I remember being on a show with Jack Knight when I was just starting out – I was so nervous and he was so encouraging and kind. I always remembered it. Think about your friends and family tonight.

RIP Jack Knight. One of the most talented and funniest dudes in the game.

RIP to Jack Knight. We recorded Netflix promos together years ago. He was an incredibly funny original voice in comedy and a great guy who will be sorely missed.

— Tim Dillon (@TimJDillon) July 16, 2022

You could tell he was special when I first saw him. So much talent and an even better person. RIP Jack Knight.

A few years ago a young Jak Knight started coming to our open mics and it was clear from the start that he was special. Jack was an amazing writer and performer, years ahead of his age. He had so much more to say and we are heartbroken that we won’t be able to hear it. We love you forever Jack. pic.twitter.com/NFnCa87eTV

Jack Knight was a very funny, very nice guy. This is screwed. Another young comic gone too soon.

— Brabbbssss Graayy (@BabsGray) July 16, 2022

Jack Knight was such an amazing comedian and only 28 years old. Such an honest, brilliant voice to lose.

— Dave Sirus (@DaveSirus) July 16, 2022

RIP to Jack Knight, honestly was my favorite comedian these days. Unapologetically brave and cheerful❤️

There are people you meet along the way and you immediately understand: they have something special. One of those people was Jack Knight. Deepest condolences to his family and close friends.

Wait what- Jack Knight? No 💔

— Mary Lynn Rajskub (@MaryLynnRajskub) July 16, 2022

Crushed by the death of Jack Knight. Watch Bust Down NOW. I was lucky enough to spend years writing with and for Jak and we recorded our sets on Netflix that night. Such a fucking funny, surprising, kind, weird, unique talent. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones.

Whenever I was in a lineup with Jak Knight, I knew it was going to be a hell of a fun night. I’ve always loved watching it over the past decade. He won big, well deserved, so witty and memorable every moment on and off stage. A painful loss for comedy.

— James Adomian (@JAdomian) July 16, 2022

We were just talking last night about our comedy show @thehundreds and how everyone on stage tonight became legends. Jack Knight, you were the example. Rest in peace. pic.twitter.com/3Tp01gcwea

I asked him to do this game with me. He was so excited. He came to work every day, was funny as hell and did his job. He continues to thrive in his career. Tough guy…RIP Jak Knight. @NBA2K

Oh man, Jack Knight. He always greeted me with a big smile and a hug. What a talent, what a sweet kid (he was a teenager when I met him! With a backpack!) Damn, that hurts. Rest in peace, Jack.
