Paragon’s humidity control technology flies over Boeing’s CST-100 Starliner

TUCSON, Arizona, May 27, 2022 / PRNewswire / – Paragon is excited to announce that its Humidity Control Subassembly (HCS) has been successfully tested and operated on the Boeing CST-100 Starliner Orbital Flight Test-2. before its successful landing on Wednesday, May 25. Boeing’s CST-100 Starliner successfully docked with the International Space Station (ISS) for the first time on May 20, 2022, after taking off on May 19 from Florida. The HCS platform was developed by Paragon under a fixed-price contract for development and production with Boeing and is built on Paragon’s patented technology, as well as decades of proven experience and knowledge focused on developing life support systems in extreme environments.

“It is truly a great achievement that HCS is on board this historic mission – the first truly new humidity control technology developed in 60 years of human spaceflight. This is a testament to the excellent work and dedication of our team at Paragon and that of our Boeing partners, ”said Grant Anderson, President and CEO of Paragon. “Our team is excited that the HCS system has made its debut flight to the ISS and will continue to transport people back and forth for years to come.

HCS will provide core life support functionality for the next generation of human spaceflight operations and is the latest spaceflight technology introduced by Paragon for the ever-expanding human spaceflight market. Paragon’s HCS technology is integrated into the Northrop Grumman HALO module and will provide the opportunity to sustain life during emergencies during Artemis’ crews with crews to and around the moon.

“As humanity accelerates into space, with new missions and new technological, research and scientific goals to achieve, systems like HCS will do their best. Without life support and environmental control, you don’t have human spaceflight – it’s really that simple, “said Barry Finger, Paragon’s vice president of engineering, adding that” With Boeing’s vision and approach, all partners in this fantastic team, we all made the difficult reality – and this is what we at Paragon see as our strength.

For more than 29 years, Paragon has been at the forefront of systems designed for extreme environments at sea, land, air and space.
