The police compiled three files of parents of youngsters stopped for driving off-road vehicles.
Twillingate RCMP stopped two black bikes traveling on the highway between Summerford and Cottlesville going 50 km/h last week. The parents of the 11-year-old and the 14-year-old were issued slips for allowing the youth to drive an off-road vehicle without supervision.
About half an hour later, the same officer stopped another motorcycle on the main street in Somerford traveling at 76 km/h. A parent of the young teenager also has a ticket.
The RCMP reminds parents that under the Off-Road Vehicle Act, operators under the age of 16 must be supervised by a licensed driver who is at least 18 years of age and must be visible at all times to provide immediate guidance to the operator .
