The Professional Fighting League (PFL) returns tonight (July 1, 2022) with its usual assortment of Friday night action. The women’s welterweights and lightweights have the floor tonight, all leading up to a main event between two-time tournament champion Kayla Harrison and 15-year veteran Kaitlin Young.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) veteran Rory MacDonald fights Sadibou Sy in the co-main event, former PFL champion Ray Cooper III takes on Bellator alum Brett Cooper one fight before that, and another former tournament champion, Magomed Magomedkerimov , finds a main card vs. late shifter, Dylano Taylor.

PFL 6 ROUND BY ROUND COVERAGE
155 pounds: Kayla Harrison vs. Kaitlyn Young
First round: Harrison wants to strike early. A powerful double leg puts her on top in side control after a minute. Landing punches as Young tries to work his way up. Half guard two minutes. Right hand drop with a hook. Full back and she just keeps punching until the ref intervenes.
Final Score: Harrison wins. Young by TKO (punches)
170 lbs.: Rory MacDonald vs. Sadibou Sy
Round One: Early single leg attempt by MacDonald. He tries to switch to a double, is content to put it on the fence. One minute. They are separating. Cy lands a quick head kick, then gets hit again. MacDonald drops to the mat to try and find a better angle, but still nothing after two minutes. Sai turns, turns in turn. McDonald knees him in the groin with two minutes to go.
They are restarted remotely in the center. Sy does rounds of combos, lands low kicks. MacDonald fires once more, again deflected. One minute left. They split up. Straight from Sy, hits behind him. Big kick from McDonald in response. Short rights against the fence. Sy countered him just before getting the clinch. 10-9 Sy.
Round two: Both try front kicks to start. McDonald puts him on the fence again. In a minute. Continues to pin Sy against the fence. In two minutes. More of the same. Sai tries to reverse with two minutes left.
Sai pushes him away. Attempted header. Lead right from McDonald’s in response. Punch and hook by Su, long uppercut just misses. McDonald to the body. One minute left. McDonald is looking for another leg. Back to grinding against the fence. 10-9 McDonald.
Round three: MacDonald presses, lands a nice right and fires once more. One minute. They are separating. Body kick attempt by Sy. Another clinch, this time Sy does the press. Struggle for position. Crosslock for MacDonald. Two minutes. Knees to the body. Cy makes a trip to half guard with two minutes to go.
MacDonald works his way up, puts him on the fence, then knees Cy in the garbage again. No points deducted yet. Body kick by Sy who avoids a front kick. He tries to shoot, climbs the fence, separates. Head and body kicks by Sy, then a quick dropkick as they tie up. One minute left. McDonald tries to throw at the exit. Los kick from Sy and a quick kick after a missed header. Knee to the body by McDonald in response. Sy finishes things off with a pair of body kicks. Thus ends the most unpleasant performance for fans in the career of McDonald’s. 10-9 Sy.
Final score: Sy def. McDonald by unanimous decision
170 pounds: Brett Cooper vs. Ray Cooper III
Round One: Cooper III comes out pounding and starts absolutely backing away at the fence. Cooper tries a backflip, but Cooper III knees him and hits a body slam before polishing him off.
Final score: Cooper III def. Cooper by TKO (knee and punches)
170 lbs.: Magomed Magomedkerimov vs. Dylano Taylor
First round: Quick jab from Taylor. Magomedkerimov steps in with a combo, lands a left hook. One minute. Both sit out of hitting range. Short skirmish, no takedown. Quick exchange in the center. Magomedkerimov tries a head kick, eats a low kick. Slow first round. Body shot in the clinch, can’t land a right on the way out. Two minutes left.
A flying wrench attempt catches Taylor in the groin but he chooses to continue. Nice surprise takedown from Magomedkerimov. Standing over Taylor near the cage, positions himself as a guard. Solid standing shots from Magomedkerimov give Taylor a chance to rise, but he is thrown back into guard. 10-9 Magomedkerimov.
Second round: Low kick for Magomedkerimov. High-low 1-2 seconds by Taylor. A heavy right counter from Magomedkerimov is answered by a low kick after a minute. The long 1-2 fails. Two minutes of sin. Back to touch sparring. Taylor tries another round low kick and Magomedkerimov lands the same counter just in time for huge effect. Taylor almost hits the mat but manages to find her feet again. Two minutes left.
Another big right hand from Magomedkerimov. Flying knee misses but another big right lands cleanly. Taylor is on his feet and the referee steps in for a TKO.
Final score: Magomedkerimov def. Taylor by TKO (punches)
155 pounds: Larissa Pacheco vs. Genna Fabian
First round: Pacheco advances early. She trips Fabian with an inside low kick, then rocks her with a hard combo that forces Fabian to shoot. Pacheco denies, moves to a back body lock, then takes her down into the horse to the fence. The arm triangle is there for her and she wraps it up. She can’t go into side control because of the cage and Fabian holds it. Caught in half, still squeezing. Back to the mount and she drops it in favor of blasting away with punches until the ref intervenes.
Final result: Pacheco won. Fabian by TKO (punches)
170 lbs.: Jarrah Al-Silawi vs. Magomed Umalatov
First round: Conditional start. After one minute, no punches are thrown. Umalatov breaks into a clinch against the fence. Parting. Low kicks from Al-Silawi. In two minutes. The referee calls for action, the crowd gets angry. Low kick from Umalatov. Decent clinch knee. Al-Silawi strikes back. Two minutes left.
Umalatov looks for 1-2-3. Al-Silawi catches one of his kicks, but Umalatov soaks it with a short backfist that cuts him short. Umalatov chases him down and bombs him unconscious in an abrupt end to a deadly boring fight.
Final score: Umalatov def. Al-Silawi by knockout (punches)
