The Queen’s “cheeky” sense of humor was praised by the winners of the Australian of the Year after she spoke with the six Zoom winners.
The Zoom call, which took place on May 9 but was made public today, began with Australian Governor-General David Hurley, reminding the monarch that 34 years had passed since she inaugurated the Canberra Parliament House.
The building has a water body known as the Pool of Reflection, which the Queen remembers: “This little pond inside really intrigued me. I wondered how many people had fallen into it.
One of the recipients was Dr. Daniel Noor, 25, who won the Young Australian of the Year for his work in mobile healthcare.
He said the queen had “a cheeky smile and was so earthy and so beautiful”.
