Police are calling for witnesses after a collision between several vehicles killed a 71-year-old man in Brampton.
The incident happened around 8:20 am on Thursday in the area of Main Street North and Vodden Streat East.
According to police, a 71-year-old man from Brampton was driving west on Vodden Street East when he was hit by another vehicle traveling north at the intersection.
The man was taken out of his car and taken urgently to a hospital, where he later died of his injuries.
Police say that after the collision, the driver of the other vehicle drove away from the scene before being detained by police.
The suspect, identified by police as 48-year-old Denise Herbert of Vaughan, has been charged with dangerous driving and failing to stop after a fatal accident. She is due to appear in court in August. So far, none of the allegations have been proven.
In a press release issued Friday, investigators issued a public appeal to witnesses who may have seen the collision or may have video from the dashboard camera of what happened. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
