Police are investigating a fatal accident in Cambridge: WRPS

A man is dead after a fatal car accident in Cambridge, according to police.

It is unclear whether the crash happened late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

Waterloo Regional Police said around 7:15 a.m. Sunday, ambulance crews responded to a crash alert near Bismark Drive and Westcliff Way.

Investigators found that Kia Optima was driving east on Bismarck Drive in a construction site, left the roadway and hit construction equipment.

Police say the only resident, a 38-year-old man from Cambridge, has been pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not confirmed whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
