Police are making more arrests following a gun incident in central Plymouth

Two more people were arrested after an incident in the early morning hours in the center of Plymouth. The number of arrests is five.

The cordons remain in place at the Royal Parade and the search continues. Following were reports of a quarrel between two groups of people in the early hours of this morning and someone who was threatened with an alleged gun in downtown Plymouth.

Earlier on Friday, police in Devon and Cornwall confirmed that two men aged 20 and 29 and a 23-year-old woman from the Plymouth area had been arrested in connection with the incident. Now they said a 21-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man had also been arrested.

All five are currently in custody in connection with the incident. Police remain on the scene and appeal for witnesses.

A spokesman for the Devon and Cornwall police said: “Police were called in with reports of a quarrel between two groups of people in downtown Plymouth around 4 a.m. today, Friday, June 3. One man reportedly threatened others with an alleged gun.

“Police remain at the scene and continue the search. Three men aged 20, 21 and 29 and two women aged 21 and 23 from the Plymouth area have been arrested in connection with the incident and are currently in custody.

Detective Inspector Debbie Wyatt added: “We are continuing to monitor a number of investigations into this matter and are working to establish the full circumstances of the incident. We call on anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed something that could help our investigation to contact us. “

Anyone with information that may be relevant to the investigation has been asked to contact police on 101, citing 0184 on Friday (June 3rd).
