Police confirm that Katie Kenyon’s missing mother died from head injuries

Lancashire police said the post-mortem examination concluded that the 33-year-old had died from head injuries.

The mother of two children from Paddyham was last seen boarding a Ford Transit van in Burnley on April 22.

Her body was found by Lancashire police in the Bowland Forest on Friday night.

The suspect in the murder of Katie Kenyon is appearing in court for the first time

A Lancashire police spokesman said: “We can now sadly confirm that the body found in Bowland Forest is that of Katie Kenyon.

“Police found Katie on Friday after a lengthy search, and she is now officially identified as the 33-year-old missing mother of Padiham.

“Yesterday a pathological examination was performed by the Ministry of Interior and the cause of death was head injuries.

“Our thoughts remain with Katie’s family and loved ones at this difficult time. The family continues to be supported by specially trained officers.

“We would like to thank once again all those who helped during the search for Katie.

Andrew Burfield, 50, of Todmorden Road in Burnley, has appeared in court on murder charges and will face trial in November.
