Police have accused two men in downtown Calgary of attacking a homeless man

Calgary police have charged two men with what they say is a hate attack on a man who survived homelessness in downtown Calgary last month.

The attack took place near the Bow Tower on March 29.

At around 11 pm, a security guard found the victim after he was thrown to the ground and kicked by two men in what police described as an unprovoked attack.

The man was injured and needed medical attention after being kicked in the ribs and face.

Police have charged Corbin Maverick Riley, 21, and John Segovia Calderon, 21, with one count of assault.

“Every Calgary has the right to feel safe in our city, and violence against vulnerable members of our city will not be tolerated,” a statement from the Calgary Police Department said Thursday.
